#AEHoops Week 1 Roundup

Vermont went down to the Bahamas and won the Bahama's Showcase with wins over Bradley, Coastal Carolina and Northern Kentucky. Stef Smith and Drew Urquhart stepped up for the Catamounts in their close win over Bradley, Ernie Duncan led the way for Vermont in the win over Coastal and Anthony Lamb had a monster game in the finals against Northern Kentucky. TBH had a solid tournament overall as he hit some big shots late in the games while averaging 16 points, 4.3 assists and 3.3 turnovers while shooting 47% from the floor.

Albany got a win at Boston University as David Nichols and the front court led the way offensively. Stire/Charles/Foster combined for 38 points on 16-24 shooting. Returning home the Great Danes defeated Yale as Joe Cremo led the way offensively, while once again the front court showed up on O as Stire/Charles combined for 30 points on 12-14 shooting.

UMBC got a win over Central Pennsylvania who was led in scoring by Daylin Davis with 14 points. On the road they fell to Colgate in a game where Lyles & Lamar combined for 64 points on 24-38 shooting. This team has got to figure out a way to play some defense, there's no excuse for giving up 93 points to Colgate.

Stony Brook played UConn tough in a game where they got some scoring from up and down their roster. The Seawolves then lost to Ball State in a game where they turned the ball over 18 times and allowed the Cardinals to shoot 60% (21-35) from two point range. Next came another P5 matchup where they played Michigan St. tough before the Spartans pulled away in the second half. The Seawolves finished the contest 13-26 from deep and Yeboah and Olaniyi combined for 31 points. Stony Brook has to figure out a way to get more production inside, vs UConn & MSU that's to be expected, should've been better vs Ball State.

Iba Camara recorded a double-double in New Hampshire's loss to Texas. Next the Wildcats took on a talented Florida team and held them to 39.5% shooting from two point range and 16.7% shooting from deep. Tanner Leissner led the way offensively for UNH with 23 points against Florida. Major props to UNH for hanging tough against two very tough opponents this week.

Binghamton gave up 94 points to Cornell in a loss, but at least Thomas Bruce collected some stats with 28 points and 11 rebounds. In the Bearcats loss to George Mason they shot poorly and were out-rebounded. J.C. Show led the way for Binghamton offensively with 27 points in their loss to Evansville. Once again the Bearcats were out-rebounded while Evansville was able to shoot 9-16 from deep. Giving up 94 points to Cornell is not what you want...

UMass Lowell defeated Marist in Jahad Thomas' first game back from suspension where he recorded 21 points, 17 rebounds and 8 assists as Thomas recorded 10 of UML's 13 offensive rebounds in the contest. Matt Harris added to the offense against Marist as he went 7-13 from deep and finished with 23 points. The River Hawks defeated Cornell behind 26 points (11-19 fg) from Rinardo Perry, in a game where they forced 22 Cornell turnovers.

Hartford lost by 36 to Rider in a game where they were out-rebounded by 24...let me move on before I start cursing. The Hawks played a solid game against LIU Brooklyn where Dunne & Lynch combined for 43 points on 15-27 shooting. To close out the week Hartford defeated Miami (OH) by 10 in a game where they led by over 20 and held the RedHawk's  to 16.7% (5-30) from deep. If you would've told me this team could win a game by double digits where they shot 30% (9-30) from deep I would've said you were insane. Hassan Attia has to find a way to foul less for this team to be better.

Maine lost to Texas Tech (real good team who beat Northwestern by 36 last night) before losing to South Alabama by 22 and taking Sacred Heart to overtime to close out the week. Not much to say here, gotta start doing everything better.

This is a big NOPE. Honestly I got lazy on this, there was too much going on in the board this week. Just easy to go with a post that has two terrible takes.
