Albany (88) vs Holy Cross (84) Quickie

The Best Things In Life Are Free

Albany finished 27-30 (90%) from the free throw line. The Great Danes shot 14-15 from the charity stripe in the second half and 6-8 (2 Cremo misses when the game was pretty much iced) in overtime. Peter Hooley finished 7-7, Mike Rowley 6-7, Ray Sanders 4-4, and Joe Cremo 6-8, with Stire and Singletary both 2-2 from the line. Holy Cross finished the afternoon 14-18 from the line; a solid 77.8%, but with 13 less makes than Albany. The Great Danes won this game at the line combined with out-rebounding Holy Cross 37-25 and 10-6 on the offensive end.

Mike Rowley scored the final 6 points for Albany in regulation and finished the afternoon with 16 points on 5-7 shooting , adding 9 rebounds in 40 minutes of action. With 5.9 seconds left, and Albany trailing by 2, Rowley took an inbound pass from under the UA basket the length of the floor to send the game to overtime.

Peter Hooley has a new season high point total as he finishes with 20 on 5-12 shooting in 37 minutes to lead the Great Danes. Along with the points, Hooley added 7 boards and 4 assists to his stat line. A Big Hooley three with about 1:30 remaining in overtime would put Albany up for good in this one

Come One, Come All

Another nice team win as the Great Danes got contributions from all of their starters and multiple members of the bench. Coach Will Brown is the only person who sat less than Evan Singletary as he logged a game high 44 minutes of action; scoring 12 points and recording 5 assists.

Dallas Ennema came up big down the stretch, tipping a missed Singletary three that led to a Mike Rowley offensive rebound and game tying free throws with 13 seconds left in regulation. Ennema would also force a Holy Cross turnover with just over a minute left in overtime as Albany led 82-81 leading to two more Rowley free throws. Ray Sanders scored 11 points in 25 minutes while Joe Cremo scored 13 in 26 minutes.

Back And Forth

Neither team would give in as there was clutch shooting by both teams late in the second half and overtime. In total the game would be tied 13 times and include 18 lead changes. There weren't many stops by either team towards the end in this one until Albany took the lead for good on the aforementioned Hooley three late in overtime.

Holy Cross led for 19:31, while Albany led for 16:44.
