The stories will come, you'll pretend to care.
North Carolina is under investigation for academic fraud, Syracuse was under investigation for everything from academic fraud to covering up child molestation.
But you don't really care.
You may act as if you do, you may even scream to anyone who will listen how it's unfair that these "cheaters" are even allowed to travel to Houston. In the end you'll watch, just like everyone else.
The NCAA didn't create this dilemma, the schools aren't the monsters. The media behemoths and shoe companies that pour astronomical dollar figures into programs and conferences aren't to blame either.
Want to know who is?
Go to the bathroom, then wash your hands. That person staring back at you while you clean up; that's who's at fault here.
The money to fund the activities of everyone from the NCAA to an individual program is coming out of your pocket, yet somehow you expect these institutions to be held accountable for their actions when you yourself have zero personal accountability?
No one will ever get the death penalty again, there's too much money at stake. It's beyond athletics at this point, it's politics. Remember Penn State?
They covered up Kiddie rape.
Let that sink in...
CHILD RAPE.
What happened in the end? You forgot about it, you stopped caring. You allowed the NCAA to lift their bowl ban while getting back all of their scholarships.
This is not the NCAA's fault, this is not Penn State's fault...this is YOUR fault.
You don't care about the children, to be honest...they're not children. The elite ones have been handled and exposed to how this world works long before they had a date for senior prom.
The system isn't to blame, you are.
Dave Bliss is once again a head coach, because fuck it...why not? I personally don't care, I only worry about what I can control. If you don't care, I'm sure as hell not going to.
Pat Forde started the nonsense immediately following UNC's win over Notre Dame, playing to your emotions and lack of intelligence. He writes:
"The Final Four matchups are now set. In one national semifinal, we have Villanova vs. Oklahoma. In the other, we have On Probation vs. Under Investigation."
And you know what? You're just stupid enough to buy into it.
Don't like being called stupid? The media knows you don't, it's why they constantly call you it, without actually coming out and saying it. You're going to watch the Final Four, even if you have zero rooting interest. They'll feed you just enough BS to suck you in, get that blood boiling.
There's two programs you can root against, because hey, you're a moral person...and these two cheated.
Congrats, you just contributed more to this "unjust system" than any booster ever has.
There's no television money without ratings, and the massive dollar amounts that come from advertisers.
You tuning in to root against these "cheaters" is doing more to help them than hurt. I thank you for your support of the North Carolina Tar Heels...even as you sit here and tell me "how everything they stand for is what's wrong with college athletics"
Do you REALLY care, I mean REALLY care.
How many of you make excuses for your own program, then run to a message board or text your friends, making excuses for your own programs misdeeds... all while wishing they did everything they could to win?
That's what this is all about, right? Winning?
Losers don't make money, winners do.
Louisville MBB makes A TON OF IT, you sat by while they punished two seniors in Damion Lee and Trey Lewis that had nothing to do with their stripper scandal.
Two 5th year grad transfers, excellent players, missed the postseason because Antonio Blakeney and his guardian fucked strippers while on a visit to Louisville.
What did you do? You sat there while the NCAA allowed Blakeney to play this season (with an opportunity to play in the postseason at LSU) while Damion Lee and Trey Lewis were punished.
See, you're an idiot...you just can't help it.
There's only one team in the Final Four this year that has had a postseason game vacated.
Your hint?
It's neither school you're upset about right now.
The other, well...
"In November 2011, the NCAA punished Oklahoma with three years probation, a $15,000 fine, reductions in recruiting, the loss of a scholarship, and vacation of all wins for the 2009-10 season."
You'll continue to watch, you can't help it. I don't blame you, the games are great, the atmospheres are great...you have a personal attachment to certain schools.
Just don't pretend that the NCAA or I care about the issues, why should we?
You sure as hell don't.
The next time someone has an issue with the program you root for, just do what I do...
Hit them with a big smile, and a "Just win baby".
